There are claims that the residential care system in the UK has been failing for many years. It is a system where carers are invariably overworked, under-trained and under-paid. The overwhelming majority of people receiving residential care in the UK are the elderly who have increasing levels of fragility and dependence. This photograph aims to show the irony that at a point in our live when we are most in need of care, the system fails to provide this at a high enough standard.
